IBPS SO section wise preparation tips?

IBPS is recruiting for Specialist Officer and the IBPS SO notification says that there are 1599 vacancies. The aspirants for this position can start their preparation and the date of exam is yet to be announced. The final selection of the candidates will happen after the online test and the interview.

The selected candidates will undergo a specially designed course for 3 months through an institute that will be selected by IBPS. In order to prepare for the SO examinations, check the exam pattern first to make a study plan. This article will provide the exam pattern and IBPS SO section wise preparation tips.

IBPS SO Exam pattern:

The exam will be conducted online and the duration is of 2 hours. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for the incorrect answers. The cut off marks will include sectional and overall which will be selected by IBPS SO.

Preparation Tips for English:

The test of English language will majorly have Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading Comprehension, and Verbal Ability.

  1. To improve Vocabulary, you must read newspapers, books, magazines. Make a note of the words, find out meanings and usage. Watch national television channels, especially the debates, chat shows. It will improve both your listening and you will come across lot of new words too.
  2. To learn synonyms/antonyms, idioms, phrases, learn and memorize a new word on a daily basis.
  3. Revise rules of the grammar.
  4. You learning of vocabulary will help in spotting the error.
  5. Practice as much as you can from the model question papers, previous year papers and IBPS SO mock tests.

 

 

Preparation Tips for General Awareness with special reference to Banking Industry:

General Awareness here means a special reference to the Banking Industry and Finance sector.

  1. Banking Industry Awareness – Read all the latest Bank related news, roles and functions of institutions like NABARD, RBI etc.
  2. You must also memorize the currencies of countries, international trade, policies and pacts, banking related facts, exchange rate, trade deficit etc.
  3. Read Economic/Finance books and newspapers.
  4. Try to take mock tests, solve previous question papers.
  5. Also prepare for at least 5 to 6 months of current affairs.

Preparation Tips for Financial Management:

  1. Financial Management – The questions will be based on Trade Deficits, Exchange rate, Repo rate, International Trade, etc.
  2. Economy – The questions will be related to Financial Organization, Budget, Indian Economy, Economic Survey, GST, GDP Growth Rate, Business, etc.
  3. You must be familiar with the concepts of Financial Management and Economy.
  4. You must also know the terms that are often used in Financial Management.
  5. Allocate time to understand these concepts.
  6. Refer the topics such as Budget, GDP, GST, and Economic Survey.

Preparation Strategy:

  1. First and the foremost thing is to prepare a study plan with the list of topics that are in the syllabus.
  2. The Study plan should comprise of easy to difficult topics on a daily basis. Strictly follow the study plan and knock off each topic.
  3. Take mock tests, practice from model papers. Analyse and see which is you area of focus and prepare a plan to focus on those topics.
